Actions

An action is an instruction you use again and again — "Summarize this", "Fix the grammar", "Write the meeting minutes" — with the model that runs it. Gelim comes with a set, and you can make your own.

Where actions run

WhereWhat they work onHow you run one
The launcher (Mac)Your selection, the clipboard, a copied image, or what you type⌘Space, then the two-letter code (Quick actions)
The keyboard (iPhone)Your selection, or the text around the cursorTap a chip in Quick or My actions (Actions in the keyboard)
iPhoneA screenshot or a photoYour iPhone actions — Describe, Extract text, Translate image, Explain, Look up highlighted text and your own — as chips (Ask about a screenshot, Ask about a photo)

1. Open your actions

Settings → Actions: every action, wherever it runs. Filter by All, Meetings, Mac, Keyboard or iPhone. See On every app.

2. Switch one on or off

Each action has a switch, the same on all your devices. Off, it's gone from the launcher, the keyboard, the iPhone's screenshot and photo chips, or the recording's Actions tab.

3. Make your own

Choose New action. Give it a name and instructions (up to 16,000 characters), choose a model or leave Automatic, and choose the answer's shape: prose, a list or a table.

  • Mac action: add two letters to run it from the launcher, and use {{input}} where your selection goes. An optional shortcut works while the launcher is open.
  • Keyboard action (iPhone): it shows in My actions. Which tab and quick slot it sits in is each iPhone's own, and a copy you make keeps the original's.
  • Meeting action: turn on Run when the transcript is ready to run it on every new recording.

Change a Gelim action

Editing one of Gelim's actions makes your own copy, on all your devices. Reset to the original brings Gelim's back.

Team actions

Team admins can share an action with the whole team (For my team or Share with the team). Members use it as it is, or edit their own copy.

On every app

Every action runs in one place, Meetings, Mac, Keyboard or iPhone, and belongs to Gelim, your Team or you (Personal). A copy you made says where it came from: from Gelim or from your team.

1. Make an action

Choose New action, then answer Where does it run?. The form shows only what that place has:

PlaceWhat it works onIts own settings
MeetingsThe transcriptRun when the transcript is ready
MacThe selection, the clipboard, an image, what you type, or nothingCode (two letters) and Shortcut
KeyboardThe selection or nearby text, the clipboard, or nothing—
iPhoneAn image (a screenshot or a photo), or text—

Write {{input}} in the instructions where the text goes. Choose Save: the action reaches your other devices within seconds.

A Mac action's Shortcut runs it while the launcher is open, on every Mac of yours. Gelim tells you when another action, a tab key (⌘1–⌘8) or one of Gelim's own keys already has it. Settings → Shortcuts lists every action's shortcut. Translate images to sets the language the image actions that translate use: under the list on the Mac, under Screenshots and photos on the iPhone.

2. Edit any action

Choose Edit on any row (on the iPhone, tap the row). Your own actions, and your team's if you're one of its admins, change in place. Saving a Gelim action, or your team's, makes your copy; Reset to the original brings the original back.

3. Run it somewhere else

In the editor, choose Duplicate to… and a place. You get a new action there with the same instructions and only that place's settings.

Run actions from elsewhere

  • iPhone Shortcuts: Run a Gelim Action runs a Keyboard action, or an iPhone action on text, and returns the answer.
  • Mac Shortcuts: Run quick action. Or a link: gelim://action/ss?source=clipboard runs Summarize on your clipboard.

Limits and notes

  • Up to 100 of your own actions in each place.
  • Deleting your own action is immediate, on every device. Results it already made stay with their recordings.
  • Each run is charged to your Gelim Account.
