Search and deep research
Every composer has two switches beside the model. Search lets Gelim look things up while it answers. Deep research sends one message off to write a full report, with sources, while you do something else.
Search
1. Leave Search on
Search is on in every new chat. The model decides, question by question, whether to search. Turn it off for a chat that shouldn't touch the web; turn it off for every new chat in Settings → Chat → Search on by default.
2. Ask
While it searches you'll see Searching the web for "…" and Reading a site.
3. Check the sources
Every [n] in the answer is a link. Sources under the answer lists every page it read.
Deep research
1. Turn on Deep research
Turn on Deep research in the composer. Send becomes Research, and Gelim shows how long it takes and what it costs before you send.
| Depth | Takes |
|---|---|
| Standard | 2–10 minutes |
| Deeper | 5–25 minutes |
Choose the depth in Settings → Chat → Deep research.
Choose it on the card that appears before you send. Turn the card off with Settings → Chat → Ask before deep research.
Choose Standard or Deeper on the line under the composer.
2. Send your question
Type what the report should find out and choose Research. A card shows Queued, Running and then Report, with its sources. The switch turns itself off afterwards.
3. Leave if you like
You can close the window or the app. The report lands in the chat, on every device, and waits there for 24 hours.
4. Read the report
Choose Read the report (or Open the report on iPhone). Copy report and Share report take it elsewhere.
Good to know
- Cancel · nothing is charged: a cancelled or failed report costs nothing.
- Deep research reads about the last 15,000 characters of what you send with it.
- A chat waits for its report before the next answer: one answer at a time.
- From the iPhone keyboard, the report opens in the chat in the Gelim app.
- If your plan doesn't include them, both switches are locked with a note pointing to your Gelim Account.
