Recordings
Record a meeting on any device and get a transcript with speakers, a translation if you want one, Meeting minutes and action items, and a chat to ask about it. The audio is always saved on your device first, so nothing is lost.
1. Record or import
| Record | Import | |
|---|---|---|
| Mac | ⌘⇧R: microphone, or meeting audio from any app (more) | ⌘⇧I, or drop an audio or video file on Recordings |
| iPhone | + next to Recordings, a widget, or Siri (more) | Import icon, or share from another app |
| Web | ⌘⇧R: microphone, or a meeting tab in Chrome and Edge (more) | ⌘⇧I on Recordings |
| Chrome | The Gelim icon → Record (more) | — |
2. Follow its progress
Every recording shows the same four steps, in order:
Saved on this device · Audio sent · Transcript · Actions
You'll also see tags such as Sending audio 40 %, Transcribing, Waiting for a connection, Waiting for credit or Needs attention. Audio on another device means the device that recorded it hasn't sent it yet; it will when it's online.
3. Read the transcript
Open the recording. The Transcript tab shows each passage with its speaker and time.
- Rename speaker on a passage gives a speaker a name, in this recording only.
- Hide translation / Show translation toggles the translation under each passage.
- Play from plays the audio, on the device that holds it.
4. Run actions
Open the Actions tab. Gelim's four meeting actions are ready:
| Action | What you get |
|---|---|
| Meeting minutes | Decisions, open points, next steps |
| Action items | Who does what, by when |
| Translate the minutes | The minutes in your translation language |
| Follow-up questions | Questions for the next meeting |
Choose Run. The result appears as it's written, reads as formatted text, and ends with Share, Copy and Run again. On the web, Share offers Copy link, Share… (where your browser has it), Download .md, Copy as Markdown and Copy as plain text, and Run again keeps the old result until the new one is ready. On the Mac and the web, these buttons stay at the bottom of the result while you scroll it. On the Mac, Share offers Share…, Copy as Markdown and Copy as plain text, and Insert into (⌘⏎) puts the result where you were typing. On the iPhone, a run shows Running… at once and you can leave while it finishes; Share opens the share sheet with the result in Markdown, and a run that fails says why, with Try again. The recording's own Share is on the Transcript tab. To run an action by itself on every new recording, turn on Run when the transcript is ready in the action's editor; each run is charged.
5. Chat about it
Choose Chat about this (⌘⇧C on Mac and web). Gelim starts an ordinary chat with the transcript attached, listed under Today on every device.
Translate a recording
Choose Translate, pick a language, and Gelim adds a translation under every passage. The original never changes. To translate every new recording live, set Live translation for new recordings in Settings → Recordings.
Share and export
- Public link: in Share on the Transcript tab, create a link anyone can open to read the transcript, with speakers and translations, and the Meeting minutes if you include them. The link lasts until you turn it off (Turn off on the Mac, Turn off link… on the web); on the web, Replace link… makes a new one and stops the old. If a link can't be made, Gelim says why. Audio, actions and chats stay private.
- Export: Markdown, Text or JSON, with or without Speaker names, Timestamps and Translations. Copy or Download takes the whole transcript, every passage, whatever you choose; with no transcript yet, it says so instead. Your last choices are remembered on this device for your account, until you sign out.
- iPhone: Send & share, on the Transcript tab, chooses Minutes, Action items or Transcript, then Share…, Public link, Export a file or Email recap. It starts on what you chose last, and Export a file keeps your last format and switches, as on the other apps.
Team recordings
On a team, recordings live in the team's workspace. People filters by who took part; Shared shows recordings others made. Only the person who recorded and team admins can share or delete a team recording.
Limits and notes
- A recording lasts up to four hours, and one live meeting runs at a time.
- Imports on the Mac and the iPhone: audio or video up to 4 hours, with no size limit beyond the space on your device; from a video, only its sound is imported. On the web: audio or video up to 4 hours and 2 GB (the browser holds the file in its memory); from a video, only its sound. Audio shared into Gelim on the iPhone is up to 100 MB per file.
- Audio is kept 30 days after the transcript is ready; the transcript, translations and action results stay.
- Live text needs available credit to start. Without credit, the audio still saves; transcription waits.
Next steps
- Actions: make your own meeting actions.
- Your library: archive, delete and restore.
- Troubleshooting: offline recordings and uploads that wait.
