Troubleshooting

Something not working? Find the symptom below and follow the steps. If you're still stuck, write to hi@gelim.ai.

On the Mac

The launcher doesn't open

  1. Check the key in Settings → Shortcuts → Launcher. If Spotlight uses ⌘Space, Gelim answers on ⌥Space; Settings → General → Fix sorts it out.
  2. Make sure you're signed in: most launcher tabs need your Gelim Account.

Insert or the selection doesn't work

Gelim needs Accessibility.

  1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
  2. Turn on Gelim. If it's already on, turn it off and on again.
  3. Quit and reopen Gelim.

If an insert fails, Gelim shows Couldn't insert with Copy instead: paste the answer yourself with ⌘V.

Meeting audio isn't recorded

Allow Screen & System Audio Recording for Gelim in System Settings → Privacy & Security, then try again. Settings → Recordings → Meeting audio from other apps shows whether it has worked.

Finder, Safari, Chrome or Mail chips don't appear

Open Settings → Integrations and choose Allow… next to the app. macOS asks once; choose Allow. Check the switch for that app is on.

The update icon doesn't appear

Updates come only to Gelim in your Applications folder. Move it there, then choose Check for Updates… in the Gelim menu. An update waits while a recording or its upload runs.

On the iPhone keyboard

The keyboard doesn't show

  1. Open iOS Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards and check Gelim is there. If not, choose Add New Keyboard… → Gelim.
  2. In any text field, hold the globe key and choose Gelim.

Actions say "Turn on Full Access"

Open iOS Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Gelim and turn on Allow Full Access. Typing works without it; actions, chat and the clipboard don't.

Actions say "Sign in to use actions" or "Open Gelim"

Open the Gelim app and sign in. If you're already signed in, opening the app refreshes the keyboard's session.

Clips are missing from the Clipboard tab

Check Allow Full Access is on, and that Save copied text automatically is on in Settings → Clipboard. For your other devices' clips, turn on Cloud clipboard. If iOS asks whether Gelim may paste, choose Allow Paste.

Recordings

A recording is waiting to upload

The audio is safe on the device that made it. It uploads by itself when the connection is back.

Gelim tries again every 30 seconds while you're online. To send it now, choose Retry upload in the recording's Audio sent step or its … menu, or Settings → Recordings → Retry all.

An offline recording isn't transcribed

Offline recordings wait for you. Open it and choose Queue for transcription. That's when credit is used.

It says "Waiting for a slot"

Your account sends five recordings at a time, or three while a live meeting runs. The rest follow by themselves.

It says "Waiting for credit" or "Out of credit"

The audio is saved; transcription waits. Add credit in your Gelim Account, then choose Try again. A live recording needs available credit to start.

It says "Audio on another device"

The device that made the recording hasn't sent the audio yet. Open Gelim on that device while it's online.

Sign-in

"Sign in with your team's Microsoft account"

Your team requires a fresh Microsoft sign-in. Choose Sign in again. Finish any running recording first.

"Gelim is not connected to your Gelim Account"

Choose Open Apps in your Gelim Account, then Connect Gelim (or, on a team, ask the team's owner to turn Gelim on).

"This Mac was removed" or "This iPhone was removed"

The device was signed out from your Gelim Account. Sign in again; recordings not yet sent are still there.
