The launcher

The launcher is a floating panel that opens over whatever you're doing on your Mac. One key brings it up, and its eight tabs cover actions on your selection, apps, files, your clipboard, emoji, symbols, a calculator and chat.

What you need

  • Gelim for Mac, signed in with your Gelim Account. Most tabs need you signed in.
  • Accessibility allowed for Gelim, so it can read your selection and put answers back (Permissions).

1. Open it

Press ⌘Space from any app. If Spotlight already uses ⌘Space, Gelim answers on ⌥Space instead and offers to switch for you: choose Use ⌥Space instead, or Open Keyboard Shortcuts to give Spotlight another key.

2. Pick a tab

Press ⌘1 to ⌘8, or use ← and →.

KeysTabWhat it's for
⌘1QuickRun an action on the selected text or a copied image
⌘2AppsOpen an app
⌘3FilesFind a file and preview it
⌘4ClipboardPaste something you copied, here or on your other devices
⌘5EmojisInsert an emoji
⌘6SymbolsInsert a symbol, umlaut or maths sign
⌘7CalculatorA scientific calculator
⌘8ChatAsk Gelim, with your selection attached

3. Close it

Press esc, press the launcher key again, or click anywhere else. With esc or the launcher key you're back in the app you came from, the cursor where it was. The launcher closes when you leave it, so it's fresh every time you open it.

Keep an answer open

Pin an answer to keep the launcher open while you click elsewhere. Click the pin on the answer or press ⌘P. Back, esc or the launcher key unpins it.

Change the keys

Open Settings → Shortcuts to change Launcher, Clipboard history, Capture an area, Capture and mark up and Pin the answer. Settings → Appearance decides whether the launcher follows the app's theme (Launcher uses the same theme) or stays dark.
