Chat in the launcher

Open the launcher's Chat tab and just type. Gelim picks up the text you selected or the text or image you just copied, so you can ask about it straight away.

What you need

  • Gelim for Mac, signed in with your Gelim Account.
  • Accessibility allowed, so Gelim can see your selection.

1. Open the Chat tab

Press ⌘Space, then ⌘8. The input is ready as soon as the tab opens.

2. Check what's attached

If you selected text, or copied text or an image in the last five minutes, a chip shows it: Selected 1,306 chars · Safari, Copied 412 chars · Notes, Copied image, or Screen area after you capture one with ⌥Tab. Click × to remove it. Nothing is sent until you press ⏎.

3. Ask

Type your question and press ⏎. Beside the input you'll find Search, Deep research and the model with its effort, which reads Automatic unless you choose one. Press ⌘/ to choose a model, or ⇧⌘/ to change its effort (Models).

4. Use the answer

KeysWhat it does
⌘⏎Insert the answer into the app you came from
⌘CCopy the selected words, or the last answer
⌘⇧SShare
⌘⇧⏎Open in Chat app: carry on in Gelim's window
⌘PPin, so the launcher stays open while you work
⌘.Stop the answer
⌘/, ⇧⌘/Choose the model, change its effort
escClose

Pick up a recent chat

With the input empty, use ↑ and ↓ to choose one of your seven most recent chats, from any device, and press ⏎. ⌘N starts a new chat, and ⌘⇧H opens all your chats in Gelim's window.

You can also start from New chat with the selection or New chat with the N files selected in Finder.

What's never picked up

  • Copies older than five minutes.
  • Passwords and anything your password manager marks private.
  • Anything you copied inside Gelim.
  • Your selection, if Selection in the frontmost app is off in Settings → Integrations.
