Record in the browser
Record a meeting from a browser tab, a room with your microphone, or a note offline, straight from gelim.ai/app. The audio is saved in your browser as you speak and uploaded in parts.
What you need
- Gelim on the web, signed in.
- A microphone. For meeting tabs: Chrome or Edge.
- Credit in your Gelim Account for live text.
1. Open Record
Press ⌘⇧R (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows), or click + next to Recordings.
2. Choose the source
| Source | What it records | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone only | Your voice, or a room | Every browser |
| Meeting tab + microphone | A meeting in another tab, plus you | Chrome and Edge |
| Record offline | Your microphone; nothing leaves this browser while you record | Every browser |
Check the microphone row shows a level. Change opens the microphone check, with Echo cancellation if your voice clips on headphones.
3. Start recording
Turn on Live translation if you want a translation under each passage (it starts as you last set it, on this device), then choose Start recording. Gelim also uses the microphone you chose last time, or the default one when it's not there. For a meeting tab, the browser asks which tab to share: choose the meeting's tab and turn on Share tab audio.
4. Finish
Press ⌘⇧F, or Finish. You'll see Audio sent · Transcript · Actions fill in; the transcript appears on every device.
If something goes wrong
| You see | Do this |
|---|---|
| Microphone blocked | Click the lock icon in the address bar → Microphone → Allow, then reload |
| Tab audio not shared | Choose again, or Continue with microphone |
| You're offline | Record offline, or Try live anyway |
| Already recording on another device | Open it, or Record here anyway (records offline here) |
| Already recording in another tab | Go to the tab |
| Slow connection | Continue offline or Stay live, then Go live again |
Offline recordings
Recordings made offline wait under Offline files · this browser at the top of Recordings. Open one to play it, Download audio, or Queue for transcription; that's when credit is used. To record offline, sign in once in this browser while you're connected.
Retry upload
If something was left behind, Retry upload appears in the Recordings header: choose Retry all, or Retry upload beside a recording that says Upload paused. An upload that stopped says Upload stopped, with Retry upload right there. Gelim also checks every time you open the app.
Import audio
On the Recordings page, press ⌘⇧I or choose Import audio. Choose an audio or video file up to 4 hours and 2 GB (from a video, only its sound is imported), optionally Translate when done and Run Meeting minutes, then Import and transcribe.
Limits
- One meeting at a time, up to four hours.
- Up to five recordings uploading at once, or three while a meeting is live.
Next steps
- Recordings: transcripts, actions, translation and sharing.
- Gelim for Chrome: record any tab from the toolbar.
