Chat in the keyboard
Ask Gelim anything from inside another app. While the chat is open, the keys type into Gelim, not into the app below, and every chat is saved to your Gelim Account like any other.
What you need
- The Gelim keyboard with Allow Full Access on (set it up).
- Gelim for iPhone signed in with your Gelim Account.
1. Open the chat
Tap Chat at the end of the keyboard's bar. A drawer slides up over the keys, titled Chat — "Stays in Gelim — not typed into the app".
2. Ask
Type in Ask Gelim… and tap Send. The answer appears above, labelled with the model that wrote it. Tap Copy under an answer to paste it into the app.
3. Choose Search, Deep research or a model
Beside the composer are two switches and the model.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Search (globe) | Lets Gelim search the web for this chat. On by default |
| Deep research (flask) | Sends your next message as a research report. Turns itself off after sending |
| Model chip | Automatic, or a model you choose for this chat only |
A deep research report runs in your Gelim Account. You can close the keyboard; the report opens in this chat in the Gelim app when it's ready.
4. Pick up a recent chat
Tap the clock to see Recent chats: your 10 most recent chats from any device. Open one to carry on where you left off, or tap New for a fresh chat.
5. Close the chat
Tap ⌄, or drag the handle down. The keys type into the app again.
Options
In Gelim, go to Settings → Keyboard → Recent chats in the keyboard. Turn it off to hide your recent chats in the keyboard; they stay saved to your account.
Limits and notes
- A question can be up to 8,000 characters.
- The keyboard can't open your photos. Tap + to save your draft, then open the Gelim app to add the photo there.
- If the connection drops, your question is kept. Ask again starts a new request and uses credit; Gelim never resends on its own.
- Offline, Recent chats shows the chats on this iPhone.
