Chats

A chat is a conversation with Gelim. Add files, your selection or a screenshot, let it search the web, and carry on from any device: every chat is saved to your Gelim Account.

1. Start a chat

Press ⌘N, or click + next to Chats. From any app, press ⌘Space, then ⌘8.

2. Add what it should read

Click a chip above the composer — your selection, the Finder selection, the browser page, the open email — or open Context for the clipboard, Choose files… (⌘O) or Capture an area of the screen…. You can also drop files on the composer.

3. Choose how it answers

Beside the composer:

ControlWhat it does
SearchLets Gelim search the web when a question needs it. On by default; it's a setting of each chat
Deep researchSends your next message as a research report with sources (more)
ModelAutomatic, or a model you choose (Models)
EffortHow hard the model thinks: Low, Medium or High, for a model that has one. It's in the model picker; on the Mac and the web, ⇧⌘/ changes it

4. Send and read the answer

Press ⏎ to send (⇧⏎ for a new line). The answer appears as it's written; while it searches you'll see Searching the web for "…" and Reading a site. Every [n] is a link, and Sources lists them under the answer.

Good to know

  • A chat writes one answer at a time. If another device is answering in the same chat, the composer waits.
  • Answers keep going if you close the window or leave the app; they're there when you come back.
  • Chats you started in the iPhone keyboard show "· keyboard" in the list.
  • If a request runs out of credit, the text so far is kept, with Add credit in your Gelim Account.

Rename, pin, archive or delete

Use the chat's menu (the title menu on the Mac and the web, More on the iPhone) or the row's menu: Rename, Pin, Share…, Copy link, Archive, Delete…, and Open in new window on the Mac (Open in new tab on the web). On the Mac, a new chat has no menu until you send its first message. See Your library.
