Ask about a screenshot
See something you want to understand, translate or copy? Take a screenshot and ask Gelim about it in one press.
What you need
- Gelim for iPhone, signed in.
- The Gelim screen shortcut, added once in one tap (below).
1. Add the Gelim screen shortcut
Add Gelim screen: open this link on your iPhone, or tap Add Gelim screen in Gelim's Settings → Integrations. Shortcuts shows the shortcut; tap Add Shortcut.
It takes a screenshot of whatever is on screen and opens it in Gelim. No app may take a picture of another app's screen by itself, so the screenshot step lives in a shortcut that's yours.
Gelim's Settings → Integrations → Ask about my screen shows a short video of these steps, from Add Gelim screen to the Action button.
2. Put it on a button
- Action button: iOS Settings → Action Button, swipe to Shortcut, tap Choose a Shortcut…, then Gelim screen.
- Back Tap: iOS Settings → Accessibility → Touch → Back Tap → Double Tap (or Triple Tap), then Gelim screen.
3. Press it
Press the Action button, or tap the back of your iPhone. Gelim opens Ask about this screenshot with your screenshot.
4. Ask
Tap an action, or type your own question.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Describe | Says what's in the picture |
| Extract text | Pulls out the text so you can copy it |
| Translate image | Translates the text, into the language in Settings → Actions → Translate images to |
| Explain | Explains what you're looking at |
| Look up highlighted text | Defines the word you highlighted or circled, with an example |
These are your iPhone actions: change them, switch them off or add your own in Settings → Actions → iPhone.
Each one starts an ordinary chat with the screenshot, listed under Today and on your Mac too.
Without a shortcut
Gelim's Ask about a screenshot is there from the install: take a screenshot as usual, then run it from Siri ("Ask Gelim about a screenshot") or the Action button (Gelim → Ask about a screenshot). Gelim opens your recent screenshots, newest first; choose one and ask.
Mark it up first
Tap Annotate to draw, highlight, erase or add text before you ask. Opening or editing never sends it.
